Truthout contributor Chris Hedges stated that "all of us have the option of serving two sets of principles: privilege and power, or justice and truth." Unfortunately, far too many people try to balance both. As a result, we live in an age when justice and truth far too often have been compromised into illusory words that serve the interests of ambition and wealth. Integrity, transparency and hope are essential to the struggle toward a social contract that does not sacrifice the interests of the many for the avarice of a few.
