Trying to get some outside work done, here at home today. The - TopicsExpress

Trying to get some outside work done, here at home today. The biggest obstacle is how quickly my hands get so cold that it is difficult to move them. Probably a combination of the fact that I have never had very good circulation in my hands or feet, plus the diabetes, plus getting older. But the bottom line is that I cant get much done at all, if I have to work without gloves. And even with gloves, I cant get all that much done before my hands are too cold. So, I got to thinking. What can I do to warm my hands up pretty quickly, without having to stop, and go inside for 20 minutes or more? Of course, hand warmers came to mind immediately. But I dont have any. Plus, how convenient is it to use them, if you are doing work that requires no gloves? Then I got to thinking about what I could do to carry something like the hand warmers around with me, and have it out of my way while working, but be able to quickly access it when I need to warm my hands again. Ok, so I had a bunch of ideas, but one was to make a pouch, to hold them in, at about the level and size as the pouch you see on some sweatshirts. Then I go to looking online at amazon, and lo and behold, someone has already come up with one. amazon/Heat-Factory-Fleece-Lined-Warmers-Black/dp/B000SOQ7MI/ref=sr_1_8/190-7990526-4265234?ie=UTF8&qid=1419716618&sr=8-8&keywords=hand+warmer Is that cool. or what? (I like the idea, because you can use it, no matter what coat or jacket you are wearing.) The warmers can be anything available out there, except the zippos. Which are pretty much just glorified giant cigarette lighters. Ok, well buying one of those, and some hand warmers, is not something that is going to happen today. And even if I were able to order them today, it would be at least a week before they got here. And to be honest, I probably wouldnt use the pouch enough to make it worth having. Id resort to hand warmers in socks, in my pockets, more often. LOL So Ill probably just buy some cheap hand warmers the next time I am at the lumber yard. That isnt going to help me to get more work done today. So, the idea that I have come up with is... I will fill two little bottles, (Aspirin bottles, vitamin bottles, even those little liquor bottles you see on an airplane, would work.), with boiling water, and keep them in my jacket pockets. Maybe stick them in a sock. Then just stick my hands in my pockets to get them warmed up again. Maybe itll be worth the effort, maybe not. Well see. I figure theyll last a little while before they lose their heat. Then Ill have to make trips inside to fill them with boiling water again. But that should waste less time than is otherwise wasted. Unless they just dont last very long at all. Also drinking some peppermint tea right now. That always helps with the circulation.
