Tuesday Night Update: Labs from yesterday were also somewhat mixed with some liver numbers improving and others like the bile duct one increasing. Good news is Kara is still feeling great and the plan is to head home sometime tomorrow, but this will be verified at rounds in the morning. The xray of the liver from last night looked like the stent was in the proper location so they want to do an ultrasound in the morning to confirm the bile duct and liver flows and no blockage or widening upstream of the stent. They will also give her the monthly inhaled antibiotic. The other news is the biopsy is still not fully conclusive. Similar to the last biopsy it still appears to show some signs of minor auto immune inflammation. It showed more pronounced signs of chronic rejection with the cellular bile duct formation inside the liver sort of vanishing, which may explain the GGT bile duct numbers increasing. Preliminary next steps sounds like a change to her anti rejection meds to add an additional or different med. The team will meet to discuss/determine the details of the plan on Thursday. This includes determining whether this change will affect the ostomy reversal that was planned for early December. Please pray for wisdom for the team and continued improvements for Kara.
