Tuesday, SEPT 9 –Many of us are amazed when we look back at the salaries that gave us a decent living in our early days of working. Some truck drivers remember making .08 cents per mile when they started driving. If a driver was able to land a job making .13 cents per miles, he was in the “Big League!” Just a few decades ago, .18 cents per mile was a decent mileage pay and drivers were able to provide a good living for his/her family. Of course, the cost of living was a lot less yesteryear but our kids and grandkids find it unbelievable that someone could survive on so little pay. Q.O.D. Can you remember the hourly or weekly pay from your first job? What was the mileage pay from your first trucking job?
