Tuesday September 30,2014 NKANA FANS WANT CHAMBESHI OUT NKANA Football Club supporters on Saturday ran amock as they demanded the instant dismissal of team head coach Beston Chambeshi who they have accused of failing the 12-time premiership champions. The fans were angered after Nkana lost to Brave Nchanga Rangers in Kitwe by 2-1 at home, making the current defending champions dreams of winning the 2014 FAZ-MTN super league almost imposible with three games to go before the end of the season. The fans started shouting at Chambeshi demanding for his dismissal and be replaced by assistant coach Zeddy Saileti who, at some point after the demise of late Masautso Mwale, performed better than Chambeshi. “Ba Chambeshi namutufilwa so just go and find another team. We want change at Nkana,” Baron Bwalya wrote on his placard. The other group led by Lusaka Nkana Fans branch member Timoth Kandolo said people have lost confidence in the management of football at Nkana because of the coach. “What is wrong with the players? These are the same players the late Masautso Mwale used and Saileti picked up with the same players. “We feel the person who has failed the team is Chambeshi and it is the reason why he was fired at Power Dynamos,” said Kandolo. Chambeshi was unvailed at Nkana in July this year as substantive coach from care-taker Saileti after the death of Mwale in a road accident in May. Since taking over, Chambeshi has won four league games and one continetal fixture while losing the same number of local league games and a continental game against Sewe Sports of Ivory Coast last month. And Nkana football club chairman John Chiwele said executive will not entertain fans calling for the dismissal of Chambeshi. Chiwele said his executive was also concerned about the poor perfomance of the club, but that there was need for fans to give Chambeshi enough time. “You cannot judge the coach’s perfomance on two or three matches under his supervision. He needs time and this executive will not entertain such calls because they are unjustifiable,” said Chiwele. He said fans should not judge the coach in the manner they were doing, adding that players too had a role to play in what was happening at the club. The defending champions on Saturday lost to Nchanga Rangers by 2-1 at home, forcing fans to launch the anti-Chambeshi campaign.
