Tuesday last week, its the first time that we dive into the technicality of medium-range defence. This is where to cool part begins and we as a martial art practitioner has to learn the differences between what is for PRACTICE, what is for SHOW, and what is for REAL LIFE SCENARIO. Medium-range defence is a lot faster than long range defence which means in a split second, everything may or may not go according to plan. This is why martial art practitioners practice their whole life to condition themselves to multiple defensive ways for just 1 single scenario. There is not 1 best way to defend yourself on the street and that each way of defending yourself may or may not work due to various reasons....!!! Anyone who tells you otherwise is a liar so please bare in mind about this fact. Now according to this video, we started from using Redondo to open the window and then progressing to some basic combos to learn SECTOR of attack, how to control and monitor the weapon hand, and to learn how to use the body-weight as the leverage in striking, grappling, and controlling the outcome. Again, theres no 1 best way to attack each sector. And even with the best technique you could come up with, theres no guarantee that you may actually pull it off without injuring yourself. After all, thats the reality of fighting in real life. Theres no GIVER or the GIVE MAN who would actually wait for you to perform/practice your combo. Theres only split-second decision, split-second reaction, what youve learned so far, and your commitment to what you will be doing to the one who attack you. Thats my 2-cent on this take. Enjoy the video guys......!!!
