KNOW MORE OF OUR GUESTS: PACITA U. JUAN Pacita “Chit”Juan started her advocacy in coffee over twenty years ago. In her visits to coffee farms around the country, she met women farmers who comprised majority of those involved in coffee. The women coffee farmers picked the red ripe cherries, dried or washed then dried the produce, then roasted the best lots which now are proudly sold in ECHOstore as “Women in Coffee”. In 2012, she joined the Global Platform for Action on Sourcing from Women Vendors, an initiative of the International Trade Center (ITC) of Geneva and UN Women. ECHOstore supplied international firms like Accenture, and similar firms which have diversity programs, looking for Women-owned enterprises (WOEs) who can supply coffee , among other products. She established the Philippine chapter of the global organization called International Women’s Coffee Alliance (IWCA) in 2012 to share best practices among women in coffee around the world. She has spoken in Mexico City and Kampala, Uganda under the ITC program and hopes to share global best practices to our Philippine coffee farmers from Benguet to Sulu. SUYIN Suyin is the Executive Director of Asia Society Philippines Foundation, Inc. Prior to coming back home to the Philippines after being away for almost 20 years, Suyin held several positions in the banking and capital markets industries in the United States and Singapore. She served as a Loan Committee Member for the Women’s Initiative for Self Employment and Co-Founder of the Mana Fund under the Give2Asia program of the Asia Foundation in San Francisco. She has a Bachelors Degree in Management Economics from the Ateneo de Manila University and completed graduate courses in International Monetary Policy at the University of Vienna and Finance at the University of California, Berkeley.
