Two days at Aldon and first event done! Charles RR was the star finishing 8th in his Novice section. He did a nice test for 31 to leave him in the top few after dressage, followed by a beautiful double clear. We were a little over enthusiastic to say the least so steady Xc to pick up 16time faults. Magical Spirit was fairly wild dressage but just about kept a lid on it for 35.5 in the BE100Open, he did a lovely clear sj then a silly green shuffle at the top of a step at fence 5 Nankin des Ruettes was a very happy boy to be out in the IN but still did a fab test to lie 4th after dressage on 31, pinged round the sj clear then a silly blip early on Xc as we were in tense spooky nonk land where the flavour of the fence judges cake is more interesting! I should have known better as his full concentration is always elsewhere at the first event ... Sack the jockey. However by the second half of the course he felt great. His quirky frenchness is what makes him so good and why I love him so much! Magical Spirits owner Peter Coote rode his other lovely horse Amo Joel in the BE100 and finished 10th! First event is always a bit painful, hoping the gremlins have been ironed out for Gatcombe next weekend!
