Their Arboretum contains some of the largest trees in the state of Florida. The Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary gives residence to permanently injured and non-releasable birds and animals, and is home to the largest collection of Florida native wildlife- including alligators, black bear, bobcats, eagles, otters, panthers, peacocks and flamingos. Tour includes a tram ride. If youd like lunch, the Flamingo Cafe offers sandwiches, snacks, and drinks and one of the best views in the gardens! Tour - NOVA Southeastern University Oceanographic Center nova.edu/ocean/index.html Since formation inception in 1966, Nova Southeastern University Oceanographic Center has a long history of conducting high quality ocean research in a variety of topics and disciplines. Initially concentrating primarily on physical oceanography, today the Oceanographic Center faculty, researchers, staff, and students pursue studies and investigations in a variety of oceanographic fields including marine biology, geology, ecology, and physics of the marine realm. Research remains at the forefront of the Centers many initiatives. There are three preeminent research institutes housed at the OC: the National Coral Reef Institute, the Guy Harvey Research Institute, and the Save Our Seas Shark Center. Facilities include a large marina with 7 coastal research vessels as well as the new silver LEED certified 86,000 square foot Center of Excellence for Coral Reef Ecosystems Research, a state of the art research building with seawater system and experimental complex for pollution evaluation. The 1 1/2 hour tour includes an Introduction to the facility, touring the labs (5-10 minutes in each lab), viewing live coral which is currently a facility focus.
