Two things I like about this particular recording of the infamous piano solo in Petrouchka (10:32-10:47): 1. The pianist blows the figure on the way up between 10:38-:39! 2. The audience behind him seems completely bored by his playing of one of the most difficult passages in the entire piece. Wake up, people! (Same happens at the solo at 8:48... although the conductor is sure excited to cue the pianist in that spot!) youtube/watch?v=esD90diWZds (Sonny, this is an observation you would make! Youve taught me that its always more entertaining to watch what people who arent playing are doing in these videos. The third trumpet player sitting around waiting for his two notes half an hour later, or in this case, a cross-armed audience member acting like the pianist is doing nothing special.)
