Two things on my mind: 1) Why doesnt (didnt) Obama ask Mitt Romney to head up the ObamaCare effort? He was the most qualified, having done something similar as Governor in MA. And he is also a duty/country Mormon guy and would have done a good job of it, while getting buy in from other Republicans in the process. 2) What would happen if half of the US Military bases were converted to providing emergency relief around the world? What if we pick strategically located bases and stock them with pallets of water/food/temporary shelter medical supplies, etc. that can be parachute dropped anywhere? Disasters such as in the Philipines are going to much more frequent in our warming, crazy-weather world. And their will be no relent going forward, as the atmosphere is fully charged up. We can count on many disasters, so why not put the valuable and already strategically located bases around the world and get them ready to do something useful?
