Two years in a row, we have dealt with horrible weather - TopicsExpress

Two years in a row, we have dealt with horrible weather conditions, difficult at best to get out even, let alone dial in a bite. The water temperatures inshore are historically cold, from south east of Nantucket, up through the northern shore of MA Bay. Even Cape Cod Bay is dealing with abnormally cold conditions, with water in the mid forties along the Western shoreline off Plymouth and Green Harbor. We have not launched from that shoreline all season, just like last. And with this, once again we had more than a few weather cancellations, reschedules, and yes, the dreaded outright cancellations. It seems it better to simply post less, rather than give the brutally honest reports we sometimes are forced into when mother nature prevails and has means to protect the herd from our normally quite productive hunts. 2013 saw one of the most incredible jig bites this area has ever seen. Because we were forced to move outside our normal inshore haunts, we had to fail in these fish, which we did and enjoyed for 3 solid months in some deep water all on the metal. This season, we once again have gone a bit quiet, as we grind out the difficult conditions and start to score a few fish as the weather gods relent from their constant fury this summer thus far. The fish are a bit smaller, but by scaling down our tackle we have had a blast south of the coast rather than east, with multiple fish from 25 to 80 pounds each trip, along with several exotics like thresher, mako, and white marlin. The bite will start to develop as the fish come closer to shore with the water warming to somewhat normal conditions, and without question we will be there to settle the score for all our efforts that went without joy. 2014 has plenty of season left, with the 3 best months upon us now, and just a bit of good weather, things should get exciting soon.
