Tyrone Harriers: The Growler, 6h00 am from 55 St Patrick Road, Houghton - 23km Please join us for the 6th annual running of The Growler at 6h00 am on Sunday 7 December, 2014. This informal, club-style run will starts and finishes at 55 St Patrick Road, Upper Houghton. This is directly opposite the entrance to King Edward VII School (Kes). Secure parking will be available. The route takes us through the grubbiest parts of the city of Johannesburg: Yeoville, Hillbrow, Marshallstown, Newton and Bertrams. There is no entrance fee and no registration process, and there are certainly no race numbers. There are also no medals, t-shirts or recorded times! Just show up on the day and run. We stick together, with the pace dictated by the backmarkers, so the 23 km route takes an excruciating (but most enjoyable) three hours; growler.co.za/ Bring along a few banknotes to buy a drink at one of the two petrol stations on route, and then hand in your change at the end for charity. All monies gathered will be donated to the Bethany Women and Children’s Shelter in Bertrams. Free coffee and free Loxton Lager beer will be served at the finish!
