UB SRC- A CACOPHONOUS COUNCIL This article from its title is meant to ruffle feathers, my gloves are off and my whip is out and it does not need any like nor comment from the narrow mindedness. The aforementioned kangaroo council have portrayed syndromes if not signs of intellectual dwarfism that can only be punished for by mental institution patients feeling they have taken mental illness to another level. The current UB-SRC is dangerously insane, a threat to the dignity of the University of Botswana. The mere fact that the aforementioned council is ideologically immature means that it, by a matter of design transform its handicap into a wrong and haphazard student leadership culture. When some of the student’s leaders mannerisms, opinion, decisions and aspirations pervade those of the students, personality traits take over council policies and breed personality cults and pubescent behavior. This is evident in the aforesaid council. The announcement of the re-shuffle of the UB-SRC came at a time when the students were crying foul play over the Casanovas and charismatic behavior that has escalated the interests of the Student’s. Some of the things that the current UBSRC is doing are not worth writing home about. They have failed to represent the student’s on numerous occasions; not mentioning the abuse and oppressiveness’s that has been turned into a norm by the newly hired Beria Security. Delayed accreditation of student living & book-store allowance, the unconducive environment in residential hostels, poor teaching and learning systems, shortage of lectures under the Faculty of Engineering, monopoly of book-store of which it was reported that they received the amount of BWP 10 000.00 as a bribe. I must tell you my dear reader, that some of the members of UBSRC are power drunk, only 2 to 3 members and the dismissed President are still breathing with their nostrils. It is now official that the President was dismissed few days ago which led to the intolerant and extremely power hungry Vice President automatically assuming power and a mere Minister was appointed to occupy the Vice President seat by virtue of being his darling over the Executive, what a disgrace! The UBSRC have now stopped itself to a lower standard, even though it has never been to any higher standard. The UBSRC is a politics of the elected representatives going in there more for personal than community gain. It should therefore by now become apparent to UB-SRC that the bickering’s going on about the factions inside the council is stuff for political novices. WE THEREFORE URGE UB-SRC TO CALL AN EMERGENCY MEETING, WHERE WE SHALL RAISE A MOTION OF NO CONFIDENCE AGAINST THE WHOLE COUNCIL as stipulated in the Constitution of the University of Botswana act of 2008 Setlhomo Raymond Tshwanelang B.A IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE
