UDEMGBA ANTHONY CHUKWUEMEKA PLOT 59 DR FASEHUN AVENUE OKOTA LAGOS NIGERIA anthonyudemgba@yahoo NIGERIAN INSTITUTE OF QUANTITY SURVEYOUR “LIVE TOGETHER WITH THE NATURE –CONTRIBUTION TO THE SUSTAINABLE WORLD” “LIVE TOGETHER WITH THE NATURE –CONTRIBUTION TO SUSTAINABLE WORLD” I will start by saying we live in an ever changing world which is correlated to various elements and factors mostly living and nonliving element along in time. Nature is a gift from the creator to man which has a life span but it’s not certain when its expiring date is going to be like buildings but it definitely has a time frame. Most gift of nature are pure and could be positive or negative depending on time, location and attributes ,which must be sustain by both living and nonliving elements . In this 2015 which is the most recent age which nature presents its seen that a lot of climate change has occurred is the past century to date some positive while other negative which is been felt by both living and nonliving element. But it most also be said that a lot has been done and still need to be done to preserver this nature to its virgin or original form which the creator handed it over to man . They are various problems that have been facing nature that makes it in danger of total collapse which is been felt in different regions of the world with a recent record in Japan. CLIMATE CHANGE When nature is mention what directly goes in everybody’s mind is climate change why? This is because we as human element are feeling the negative effects of nature which we directly or indirectly contributed to as individual’s, community, state ,country, continent and the world as a whole . I will like to mention a few causes of climate change and also remedies we can take to ensure we “live together with the nature – contribution to sustainable world” CAUSES OF CLIMATE CHANGE They are two distinct causes of climate change namely man-made and natural cause. These causes are visible from natural death of plants, erosions, floods, storms, tornadoes, tsunamis pollutions, deforestation. All this causes has effects on both the living and nonliving elements mentioned above some are short term while others are long term. Last year being 2015 was recorded to be the hottest year in modern history according to the USA. This is true and it’s a long term effect of climate change to nature. But in my write up am here to point out more not on the causes of climate change or its effect but I will be concentrating on the possible solutions or remedies that can be done to enhance us to live together with the nature and contribution to sustainable world we live in. REMEDIES /SOLUTION TO CONTRIBUTION TO A SUSTAINABLE WORLD Nigeria is a country rich in human and natural resources but it has its own fair share of climate change issues. But it must be stated that the major causes are man-made cause so I will be given the remedies to cut down man made errors to our precious world. Below are some solutions to curtail or stop man-made cause damage on our world climate in other to contribute to the sustainable world namely, Cut pollution emission to its barest minimum. Enhance a greener society and advocated for protection of forest reserves. Enhance government laws to protect nature and stipulate strict penalties for offenders. Enhance awareness, educate, inform and induct citizen about nature. Enhance research work on better energy consumption and usage. Enhance research on technology to improve on products been used around the world with nature as priority. Cut wasted of all kind to barest minimum and promote recycling culture. Promote proper urban development of cities rural areas and countries in general. CUTTING POLLUTION EMISSION In Nigeria much is not done to curtail pollution emission also same around the world from china to United Kingdom this is wrong. We can do better by simple reducing the amount of cars on the roads to the way we use energy on a daily basic this will go a long way to help if not achieve the needed result of sustaining the climate. For example in Lagos you could see an old truck emitting Co2 without being challenged by authorities also generators are all over fuming poisonous gas without the government doing enough to generate better clean energy consumption for its masses it’s so sad. This could be achieved if the awareness and zeal is there also international cooperation like this project. GREENER SOCIETY AND PROTECTION OF FOREST RESERVE This is a very effective way of protecting the nature and beautifying it too, research shows that this has work in various level as well as places around the world but it should be giving more attentions. For example the amazon forest is going through serious deforestation from animal poaching to felling of trees which take 100year to reach its real n present potential. This is bad and so be look into by relevant authorities as well as the citizen that is there direct habitat. They should know the importance of this as well as the implication of their action and reactions too. LAWS TO PROTECT NATURE AND PENALTIES China of recent had to adjust its pollution bill that’s a good example of this sub topic. If china as one of the world largest contributor of pollution can take this bold step in the right direction then I think the world should take note be it from Ghana to Canada we as citizen of this precious world must learn how to cut our excesses and uphold a law which no one will be above including any organization. For example in Nigeria gas is still fled till now in the Niger-delta and the government and multinational involved in this feel to do nothing urgent and right about it maybe the multinational feels it’s not their country but forgetting that the world is one and should be. Also the government that is supposed to protect its territories and citizens has sold their soul for money which should stop soonest. ENHANCE AWARENESS Knowledge they say is power that’s so true and knowledge is being aware about a particular thing and act accordingly. As I mention above man-made cause are the main cause of climate change so it will take same awareness of those same people causing this change to make the change now in the positive direction and not the negative. I feel the world media is not doing enough on this issue also this effect should be readily available to all to be able to unite the world to fight to sustain our world. RESEARCH WORK ON BETTER ENERGY CONSUMPTION In this case the usage of energy as we all know from cars to cooking at home to generating electricity name it has directly or indirectly impacted to pollution of our world they should be a global research to better way of doing things mention above. Brazil is a good example of this with their biodiesel car and much more we should know that we must get better ways of generating energy without damaging our universe also waste of energy For example in Nigeria you see people leaving light bulb on during the day this is wrong n most leave appliances on an go out to work that’s bad we must conserve energy always as a priority. RESEARCH ON TECHNOLOGY The world manufacturing companies are always in a hurry to produce new gadgets from cell phone to televisions to clothes without checking the effect of waste product or recycling. I think technology is to be giving a priority on quality and durably and not design and price, we are in a world where a particular company produces multiple version almost similar product in less than a year this is wrong. For example you see a phone company producing multiple phones in less than a year without thinking how it should be recycle these products later turn into waste and litter the environment too. URBAN DEVELOPMENT This is the basic of a proper living we should make this a priority too. If a city is properly planed, built and manage it will go a long way to help fight pollution as well as other vices that are affecting our world today. Terrorisms are a global vice which has its effect on mankind by cutting peoples life short it could be prevented in a properly managed city. It’s a danger to sustainable world that should be treated as pollution too yes. If we do things the right and standard way we will go a long way to get things right. Finally I will love to use this medium to advocate for a better cooperation among country and world power to ensure that the entire write up on this wonderful topic should not be left to die away. It should be looked upon as an more research should be done till we get the best of what we have to do to live together with the nature –contribution to sustainable world we live in and we most know that its not about it not my country or continent but we should look and know that the world is one and globalization make it more evident. Also I will use this medium to state the case of recent Ebola out-break in Africa, it was seen as an African illness till it hit the USA and Europe too so that’s a quick reminder that we live in a world together and the world is One.
