UFS URGE DOJ TO PLACE MARINA OFFICIAL IN LOOKOUT BULLETIN Engr. Nelson P. Ramirez, president of United Filipino seafarers sent a letter with a sense of urgency to the Secretary of the Department of Justice Leila de Lima to seek the issuance of a Lookout Bulletin Order against Atty. Gloria Bañas, the Deputy administrator of MARINA. Atty. Gloria V. Bañas is the respondent in the administrative case of Nepotism filed before the Office of the President last January 24, 2014 wherethe imposable penalty is dismissal from service. The preventive suspension of Bañas is also pending resolution, albeit the issuance of Executive Order No. 670 series of 2007, Bañas is likewise a correspondent and a main character in the case lodged before the Office of the Ombudsman for dishonesty, grave misconduct and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of service and violation of section 3 (e), Republic Act. No. 3019 in relation to Section 59 of Executive Order No. 292 Series of 1987 and other pertinent Civil Service Commission. “ WE are seeking the preventive suspension of Bañas from the office of the Ombudsman, Ramirez said. Allowing Bañas to leave the country will send a wrong signal to the justice seekers that those in government can flagrantly and unashamedly defy laws, rules and regulations and still enjoy the privilege of travelling to other jurisdictions to their whims using the government’s money.
