UG cadres arrested; warlike stores recovered IMPHAL, Dec 4: Troops of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) have succeeded in recovering war like stores from three OGWs and apprehending five UG cadres from different parts of the State in the last 24 hours. Based on specific information regarding ferrying of illegal arms and ammunition on NH 102, troops of 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) apprehended an OGW of a UG group on Dec 3. PRO of IGAR (S) said in a statement that the suspicious vehicle, a white coloured Tata Spacio registration number MN-02 A 5171 was stopped by the troops of 24 Assam Rifles and on a thorough check of the vehicle several war like stores were recovered. Five M4 A1 5.56mm Carbine (made in US) with two magazines and one handheld Kenwood Radio set were recovered, the statement while also identifying the apprehendees as Phalkholam, (38) W/o Thangpao Haokip, of B Vengnom, Churachandpur; Dimkho-neng, (43) W/o Thangsei, of B Vaiphei Veng, Churachandpur and Thangsei (44) (Driver of the white coloured TATA Spacio Registration No MN 02 A 5171) S/o L Thongkhojam, of B Vaiphei Veng, Churachandpur. Thangsei, along with recovered items have been handed over to Imphal West Police Station. Meanwhile, troops of 9 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) apprehended four PREPAK cadres and one PREPAK (PRO) cadre in three separate operations in Moreh, Chandel district on Dec 3. Two PREPAK cadres were apprehended from Moreh Town and they were indentified as SS Capt Laishram Sanjeeva Singh, (31) S/o Laishram Yaishkul Singh, of Kontha Ahallup Awang Leikai and SS Sgt Konjengbam Sanamacha Meitei, (31) S/o K Shyamkeshor Meitei, Haobam Marak Irom Leikai, said the AR statement. The other two PREPAK cadres were apprehended from Dalpatti, Ward No 2, Moreh and they have been identified as No 41050262 SS Pvt Kangabam Roshan Singh alias Pebaton, (24) S/o Late Kangabam Gago Singh of Bramahapur Thangapat Mapal and No 3906240 SS Pvt Nameirakpam Ranjit Meitei alias Loya (22) S/o (L) Nameirakpam Sanatomba Meitei of Bishnupur. One Beretta pistol loaded with 3 live rounds and one revolver loaded with 03 live rounds were recovered from the apprehendees. The PREPAK (PRO) cadre was apprehended from Pangal Basti, Ward No 5, Moreh and he has been identified as No 38889 SS Pvt G Sandeep alias Lanthaba (20) S/o (L) Ganesh, of Moreh Ward No 3. All five cadres have been handed over to Imphal West Police Station, it added. On the other hand, troops of 18 SIKH of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) launched an operation in general area Patsoi-I under Imphal West district and apprehended one PLA cadre on Dec 3. He was identified as No 2352, SS 2nd Lt Sorokhaibam Khoiba Singh alias Lemba (40) S/o S Ibobishak Singh, resident of Hangun Awang Leikai. One 9mm pistol with five live rounds of 9mm was recovered from his possession. The apprehendee along with the recovered items has been handed over to Patsoi Police Station, the PRO statement said.
