Friends and neighbours spoke of their shock at how a “happy and lovely couple” were plunged into such a tragedy. Another neighbour added: “It’s just such a shock. He was a quiet, gentle and lovely man.” One witness told how Mr Ahmed had been trying to get back into the house after what they thought must have been a row. The neighbour said: “I saw him walk out of the house with one of the children and then he came back without them and was standing outside trying to get back into the house. “They have an electronic code system to get in and I thought she may have changed it because he was outside for a while. “The next thing we know we looked out of the window, maybe an hour or two later, and there were police cars everywhere.” He is currently on trial: “Man Denies Murder After Wife Beheaded,” SKY News, October 18, 2014 A man who allegedly beheaded his wife has pleaded not guilty to murder. Naveed Ahmed is accused of killing Tahira Ahmed at their home in Merton Avenue, Northolt, west London, on 27 May. A post-mortem examination found that both the victim’s arms had been broken, she had suffered stab wounds and her head had been cut off. The couple are reported to have had two children aged between six and 12. Ahmed, who is 41, entered his plea at the Old Bailey via video link from prison. He will stand trial for killing the 38-year-old on 19 January next year.
