UNDERSTANDING THE UNIQUE SYSTEM OF ASSEMBLIES OF GOD For some time now d mainstream media as well as social media has been inundated with news about ASSEMBLIES OF GOD CHURCH. As characteristic of Nigerian press, these issues have become sensationalized. U find bold headlines like ‘TROUBLE IN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD CHURCH’, ‘CRISIS ROCKS ASSEMBLIES OF GOD CHURCH’ … The situation has been outrageously blown out of proportions, thus generating negative publicity for the Church. While we are worshiping peacefully and gracefully in almost 15,000 branches nationwide under d unction and move of the Holy Ghost, they are spreading propaganda that we are on fire! What is most worrisome however is that these rumor mills have very little or NO knowledge of the beautiful and marvelously unique system of AG Administration. They cry blue murder, castigate and denigrate authorities and dignitaries, yet with d faintest idea of d governance structure of the Church. Quite regrettably, so many of d persons and groups heating up d polity especially via facebook posts and skewed comments are not even aware dat d Church has Constitution & Byelaws! It is for this purpose that I undertake an unbiased and objective presentation of provisions of AG Constitution & Byelaws in a PUBLIC ENLIGHTENMENT SERIES. Our aim is to show that what is at play now is d superbly unique governance structure of AG – indeed what makes AG the AG that we are, the distinctive nature of AG.
