UNIVERSITAS-Adventskalender heute aus Schweden: ... Its essentially about the tomtar, which are Swedish folklore creatures who look a bit like elves while also fulfilling some aspects of Santa Claus. In Swedish superstition, there is the idea that the tomtar take care of the house, so during Christmas time you ought to put food out for them in order to keep them happy. The song describes the tomtar leaving their hiding places, discovering and eating the food and finally disappearing again. While its a simple childrens song, its well-known and one of the traditional Swedish Christmas songs, which I also listened to as a kid. So I thought it was a nice example of Swedish (traditional/folklore) concepts associated with Christmas. I hope you find it fitting for the Universitas advent calendar... Merry Christmas! 😊 youtu.be/ypy2gHm8WUI
