UNPOPULAR TRUTH, MESSAGES FROM YOUR FELLOW 21st CENTURY PROPHET: CL NYAUNGWA PhD The Subject of Prophecy and Inspiration: PART 7 (Seven) The Content of OT prophecy In the middle of Jehovah and sinful Israel was always a group of mediators; mediators between God and man. These came in the form of priests, judges or prophets. It was a life lived on the wire. The Hebrews lived in terror that Jehovah might “break forth upon them,’ in “wrath” any moment. They handed down many traditional stories showing how His, “holiness” reacted in “wrath”. For example, they related how once upon a time one Uzzah had, with the best intentions in the world, thoughtlessly touched the sacred box in which was the presence of Jehovah. The holiness of Jehovah in it so powerfully broke forth upon Uzzah that he there and then fell dead: the name of the place “Braeking of Uzzah” stands to “witness if I lie. That put the fear of Jehovah in David and all Israel to the extent that the ark of the presence had to be shipped to Edom, against the normal practice. The need for prophets is easy to identify as they can then explain the acts of Jehovah with inspiration and accuracy to the fearful nation. Even in our nations; we live in a period where life insurance, medical insurance, fear of the unknown, fear of death, and security has become “the thing that matter”. True prophecy will come to strengthen the people of God and to build up the broken lives, crumbling societies, and to reprove, rebuke and warn world power brokers against the tendency to take the place of the Almighty! Prophecy must be in order and managed/utilized as God gave the breath-inspiration and instruction. It behoves therefore upon all persons carrying the office or ministry of prophecy to know the rules of holiness, without which no man can hear from or see the Lord. In OT prophecy it was an issue settled in content and practice: clean or unclean; in my generation, holiness is not considered; anyone can claim the prophetic gifts and get to work – divinating for a living, sorry, me. Let’s share a little content from Prophet Amos: Here is Jehovah’s message to the house of Israel: “Seek me and you shall live. Seek not Bethel, go not to Gilgal, Cross not to Beersheba… Seek Jehovah and live, Lest He set the house of Joseph ablaze with fire That none can quench in Israel. Your sacred festivals? I hate them, scorn them….: Your sacrifices? I will not smell their smoke; You offer me your gifts? I will not take them; You offer fated cattle? I will not look at them; No more of your hymns for me I will not listen to your lutes Go to Bethel, go on with your sins! Pile sin on sin at Gilgal! Aye, sacrifice in the morning, And every third day pay your tithes, Burn your dough as a thank offering, Announce your freewill gifts---- Oh! Make them public, For you love all that, you Israelites! I saw the Lord standing beside the altar; “strike the pillars on the top’, said He, That the ceiling may be shaken, Break them on the heads of all worshippers…. My eye will be upon them For evil not for good. In this prophecy Amos was attacking the behavior and content of the cults of his day. In our day rarely do you hear true servants of God attacking false cults and their prophets. People seem to be minding their own business yet the battle for souls is being lost to these false prophets and their cults. Amos would have none of it; what we are seeing today is what I call religious licentiousness, exacerbated by soulless governments who register and allow cults to flourish at the expense of God’s blessing upon the land. And the Bible says, “Woe unto him who calls evil good, but that’s exactly what our governments have done. The silence for well meaning prophets and teachers of the word could literally be interpreted as allowing the cults to exist, be it for the sake of peace or for fear of the repercussions of condemning evil as evil as the Bible so recommends. Brethedrn, lets content for the faith by disagreeing with wrong prophetic content. Lets say no to perpetuation of pervesion as prophecy, lets put heresy in it’s place. If Baal rises, against us, we will see who is God between jehivah and the god of false prophets. We ca not keep quiet while the devil makes noise, we can not remain silent while our churches are being emptuied by heretic phenomena, we can not tolerate Ashtaroth and Asherah poles rising up everywhere in the name of God. If our governments are not doing right lets declare that’s says the Lord straight from the text, if they support iniquity lets tell them, you are hoarding trouble for our children in the future, lets stand up and prophesy the truth, the truth and nothing but the truth. And Pilate answered him, what is truth,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, every generation must have truth tellers called by God to declare prophetically the truth of the word at whatever the cost. Many did it at the expense of their lives and the Bible calls them heroes of faith; they did not love their lives even unto death, so shall this generation be saved if we so rise up and defend the faith for which we have been called unto ……………….
