UNSAFE LIFEBOAT By Pastor Bayo Adeyokunnu during worker’s meeting on Sunday, 08/24/14 Acts 27:30-32 And as the shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the foreship, Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved. Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off. The above-illustrated bible reference was the account of Paul when he was on sail to Rome. In the reference we are told that an unsafe lifeboat was cut off. Beloved, a lifeboat is designed for people to escape when a shipwreck is imminent. Many people are attached to unsafe lifeboats that need to be cut off. Examples are unholy alliances, shady businesses, etc Beloved, enough is enough to Christian inconsistencies! There are some spiritual surgery we need to do as Christians. Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he circumcised himself. This most have been very painful. A spiritual surgery could be very painful. Matthew 5:29-30 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Living after the flesh causes spiritual death. MAY YOU NOT DIE SPIRITUALLY! We must mortify the flesh (Rom. 8:13). MAY YOU LIVE! Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 1st John 2:15-16 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. Lust of the flesh is the wrongful desires of the flesh. It is inordinate affections of the flesh. Lust of the eyes is the wrongful desires of the eyes. This is synonymous with covetousness. The pride of life is the desire to let people know your achievements. All these are unsafe lifeboats and are not of God but of the world. If we do not cut them off, our work will not be acceptable unto God. MAY YOUR WORK BE ACCEPTABLE TO GOD! Revelations 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lambs book of life. We must examine ourselves and cut off every unsafe lifeboat so that we can make heaven. An unsafe lifeboat that is not cut off can hinder one from the right to the tree of life. 1st Timothy 1:18-19 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: Some have shipwrecked their faith. We need to deal with little foxes such as resentment, envy, jealousy, backbiting, pride, anger, lusting, the way you spend your money, etc Solomon 2:15 Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes. As workers in God’s vineyard, our first duty is to keep our own vineyards making sure we are doing what we are asking others to do. Solomon 1:6 Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mothers children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept. As women, are we submissive to our husbands? As men, are we providing for our families? Are we training our own children in the way of the Lord? Beloved, your children are your future, therefore TRAIN THEM! Do not spoil them. The bible tells us to train up a child in the way of the Lord and that when he is old he will not depart from it (Prov. 22:6). The bible also tells us that foolishness is bound in the heart of a child but the rod of correction will remove it far from him (Prov. 22:15). As keepers of God’s vineyard, do your part. Pray for your children and train them. Character formation starts from infancy. Revelation 22:14-15 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. When you keep God’s commandments, you are blessed. BY HIS GRACE YOU WILL NOT BE SHUT OUT FROM THE GATE OF HEAVEN! Lying can make one lose anointing and the Holy Spirit. Beloved, the only safe lifeboat is the one lived in Christ. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. As keepers of God’s vineyard, our duty is to fear God and keep his commandments. To cut off the unsafe lifeboat, there must be genuine repentance. God will not repent for you. 1st Corinthians 15:31 I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. Beloved, repentance must be “daily”. Let us pray… PRAYER -Lord, thank you for your word. I ask for the grace to genuinely repent. I ask for the grace to cut off every unsafe lifeboat. Lord, give me the grace to live a consistent holy life and be more focused in my walk with you! Song: I am ready to obey thy word. I am ready to obey thy word.
