UP ON THE ROOF Ive often asked myself if one man can make a difference? For a dyed-in-the-wool team player, this question has no easy answer. But, I do know that in the structure of our daily lives there is parking spot reserved for the man or a woman with know-how, who is willing to get off their duff and make it happen. Today, I was up on the roof determined to repair the damage caused by a small, but fierce wind devil , that put a serious ding in my roof in the middle of a tropical storm. Why am I up on a roof one would ask? My reply is consistent, If it has floors, walls, windows and doors - count me in. I simply love to build things. You name it, Ill build it. However, Im not particularly fond of roofs, but if it needs to be done to protect my home from further rain and wind damage, Ill do it. Fortunately, I found another brave soul to give me a hand. He had no idea what he was doing, but was willing to do all that I asked him to do. Tonight, for the first time in 5 rain swept days, you cannot see the outline of the moon from my entry area. How pleased am I? Im pretty darned pleased. Tired, weather-beaten and thirsty. But very, very pleased. - MDP
