UPA Achievements..... Rs. 801.23 Crore Released from 2010-11 for the Development of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups. Government has released Rs. 801.23 Crore towards the scheme of “ DEVELOPMENT OF PARTICULARLY VULNERABLE TRIBAL GROUPS “- earlier known as “ Primitive Tribal Groups (PTGs)” from 2010-11 to 14th February 2014 towards the overall development of 75 PTGs spread over 14 states and the UT of Andaman and Nicobar Island. The 100% Central Sector Scheme “ Development of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PTGs)” for the overall development of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PTGs) aims at the socio-economic development of PTGs in a holistic manner by adopting habitat development approach and intervening in all spheres of their social and economic life, so that the quality of life of PTGs is improved and a visible impact is made. The funds under this scheme are made available to the States/UTs having substantial PTG population for those items/activities which are very crucial for their survival, protection and development. Activities and programmes under it include housing, land distribution, land development, agricultural development, energy for lighting purposes, conservation of environment, social security or any other innovative activity meant for the overall development approach for the comprehensive socio-economic development and well being of PTGs. The rights including community tenure of habitat and habitation for PTGs have also been secured under “Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act,2006”
