UPCOMING BENJAMIN HARRISON BRIDGE CLOSURES IN PRINCE GEORGE; OCTOBER DATES HAVE BEEN SET Crews continuing work on two projects during closures Benjamin Harrison Bridge/Route 156 (Prince George/Charles City) – As part of bridge work on two separate projects, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close the Benjamin Harrison Bridge from 7 a.m. Sept. 22 through 8 a.m. Sept. 26. Additionally, bridge closures for the month of October have been scheduled for 7 a.m. Oct. 6 through 8 a.m. Oct. 10 and 7 a.m. Oct. 20 through 8 a.m. Oct. 24. Crews are working to replace the bridge’s auxiliary drive and to make repairs to the bridge’s deck and beams. Local drivers are encouraged to use the posted detour: Take Jordan Point Road (Route 106/156) south to Route 10 west. Take Interstate 295 north to Route 5 (Exit 22A) back to Jordan Point Road (Route 106/156). Through travelers can use Interstates 295 and 64 or the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry as alternate routes to the Hampton Roads area. The lift span will remain open during closures to allow marine traffic passage.
