UPDATE ON AGBADO-OJA GANGRAPE CASE: (Arrests made) +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ About a month ago, we brought you the report of the case of a 16-yearold girl gang-raped by four boys in Agbado-Oja community in Ogun State and the consequent injustice crudely written and presided over by the police at the Agbado Divisional police headquarters (victim’s father brutalized by police for protesting attempt to force him to withdraw the case after alleged bribery from parents of the four suspects, forced the under-aged girl to sign an undertaking withdrawing the case, after which, threatened, she fled the community). Following the report (links below), Olapeju Oyadiran Osobaof the Child Protection Network, Ogun State, took it up, petitioned the Ogun State Police Commissioner, the Ministry of Women Affairs and several other relevant agencies, and followed up the case. The case has now been taken up by the State Command and three of the four boys have been arrested and are now in detention at the State Headquaters in Abeokuta. The Investigating Police Officer (IPO), a certain Mr. Alaba and others implicated are also under investigation. We are grateful to the Ogun State police Commissioner Ikemefuna Okoye and very specially to Olapeju, Jacklean James, Modupe Debbie Ariyo, DrJoe Okei Odumakin, Premium Times, Musikilu Mojeed, Princess Olufemi-Kayode and all who took interest in the case and called for justice. Bountiful thanks to God, upholder of ultimate justice. We keep our hands crossed and hopefully, justice shall be done! --BA m.premiumtimesng/news/158724-exclusive-gang-raped-girl-gang-raped-justice-nigeria-police-forced-victim-free-rapists.html
