UPDATE: We will be CLOSING East Broad Street in BOTH directions between 3rd and 7th streets starting at 9 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday) to set up for the three-day cycling event Friday. The Department asks everyone to please take a look at the maps showing no parking and street closures that will affect most of downtown starting at 7 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday). The preparations are for the USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championships that start and will greatly affect travel in the city, especially downtown, throughout the weekend. The bike races are a test event for the region’s hosting of the 2015 UCI Road World Championships, and will draw more than 400 cyclists to the city. Citizens are asked to plan ahead with alternate routes and extra time to get to where they need to go. The races will take place in and around the downtown area starting Friday and going through Sunday.
