URGENT: FIND THIS HORSE!! COOL CHECKERS, 2003 Chestnut Gelding out of VA bought by a kill buyer at New Holland Auction in Eastern PA today. Thanks to Allie Conrad for scoping the lip tattoos. PLEASE do not clog this thread with slaughter and auction politics. PLEASE make this horse your priority today and we can discuss the other stuff later. There is a chance we can save him. I am not an organized rescue, but both of my OTTBs are out of New Holland, PA. Kill Buyers will generally buy a TB or a nice looking horse to make a couple hundred dollars profit if they think they can resell them during the week. If they arent resold or bailed this week, he will go on the meat truck to mexico next Tuesday. This horse WILL NOT run through New Holland again next Monday. The going rate for meat is about $0.25 a pound and the kill buyer tacks on a fee for profit, so we are looking at around $650 for purchase from the broker and then $275 for auction pick up and a minimum of 2 weeks QT, $100 for exam and coggins and vaccines, and then of course farrier and shipping to a permanent home. I will be at New Holland next Monday and can have him picked up from the broker to QT until he is rehomed if we can get him bailed this week. BUT nothing can be done unless the Kill Buyer is found to bail him. SHARE with rescues, brokers, friends, neighbors, etc.
