URGENT!!!!!! Flint, Michigan in Genesee County, MI Please "like" and share Grace: Genesee Residents for Animal Control Evolution who are asking for our help. Support is needed. There is a political logjam. What we need from people on this page is to 1. Go to the GRACE page and like it. 2. Share the page and posts as much as possible, and 3. write to our commissioners and contact legislators in support of positive change at Genesee Co Animal Control. If you are involved at a no kill shelter, particularly if it is a municipal, open admission shelter, please write to our commissioners and tell them how this change has positively impacted your community. Flint has the second worst crime rate in the country. We have horrible cases of dog fighting, but we do believe we can go No Kill and be successful. Improving this shelter would also positively impact the perception of Flint, Michigan and the surrounding county. There is some public talk of privatizing the shelter. We are encouraged by that and we prefer to move in that direction since it would be much easier to implement no kill policies without the political background. We have a few commissioners who are in favor and some again. Flint is a big union town because of GM, so this is not an easy sell. What we need to do is show the commissioners that no kill will not only save money for the county, but it will raise revenue and get animal advocates off their backs and working at the shelter, where they belong and where they want to be. Anything you can do to support us by emailing the board of commissioners and giving examples of how no kill works successfully in your community would be helpful. Thank you!
