URGENT PRAYER REQUEST AND UPDATE ON MY MOTHER, LOIS ARMSTRONG (EATING AND PHYSICAL THERAPY) This is my third request for my mother (89), who is suffering from lung cancer, and has also had heart ailments and some minor strokes (so weve been told). Shes in a rehab center. The immediate problem now is that shes eating virtually nothing. Its been that way for well over a week. She had to go on a semi-liquid (gelatin-like) diet because of some throat difficulties (danger of choking). But she seems to have no appetite for anything at all: not even chocolate pudding (which would have been incomprehensible before). We just had a meeting today at the rehab center, and expressed our deep concerns about her not eating. They will be trying a few new things to get her to eat more. Otherwise, it looks like a feeding tube is inevitable, if nothing changes. Secondly, she is not cooperating very well with the physical therapist, and only minimally with the occupational therapist. They said today that she is capable of improving, but that it is a matter of will and not wanting to do it. If there is any hope of getting back to her home, she will have to gain more strength, to be able to be mobile (with the aid of a walker or wheelchair). The two things seem to go together: proper food and nutrition = more strength to do the therapy. This is where we are at right now, and we need your prayers that these two things will improve IMMEDIATELY. Thanks beforehand for all who pray.
