URGENT STATEMENT : We are very concerned for the future welfare and lives of the ponies now officially seized on Manmoel common by Blaenau Gwent Councils in joint with Caerphilly County Borough Council. Our visit yesteday revealed the ponies generally in good condition indeed many blooming given their likely worm burdens-heavily in-foal mares/brood mares with young foals and various other lovely equines are in far better condition than we have ever seen on Manmoel Common! Clearly the decision to remove is not based on their current welfare but on the ownership issue and right to be on the Common in the first place-indeed a trading standards officer today has confirmed they were asked to act by the landowner.-however very little other information was forthcoming. which is a concern to us for the ponies sakes. I like others it appears was directed to the communications unit to listen to my objections of the ponies being moved soon also my appeal to the councils to allow the ponies more time in order for them to have a realistic chance of being re-homed if not all at least as many as possible. I have further informed the official communication unit that to remove the curent stock of ponies including mares and young foals and heavy in-foal mares etc will cause un-acceptable and un-necessary stress as the ponies are doing well and it is in their best interests that they remain on the common for an extended time with little cost to the council and ratepayers to allow avenues to be explored to rescue and rehome them. This i feel is the only sensible and decent thing to do in their best interests and the councils decision to leave them on(DEADLINE TUESDAY 11 AM 8TH JULY 2014) lends itself to this approach IF EXTENDED? However i fear the ticking clock with very little time now to change their policy and plans but for me and i am sure the public (if only they knew this) I believe is absolutely crucial for the ponies best interest. THE PONIES OF MANMOEL COMMON NEED HELP TO SAVE THEM AND I APPEAL FOR EVERYONE WITH A HEART AND DECENCY TO COME ON BOARD TO HELP THEM AND SPEAK UP FOR THEM FOR THEIR LIVES ARE CLEARLY AT HIGH RISK OF ENDING SOON BUT NOT BEFORE BEING DISTRESSED FIRST! WE SIMPLY CANNOT STAND ASIDE AND LET THIS HAPPEN -I SUSPECT THE PONIES WILL BE GATHERED AND EITHER KILLED LOCALLY OR FORCED INTO TRANSPORT DRIVEN OUT OF WALES PROABABLY TO POTTERS BAR IN BRISTOL AREA I BELIEVE AND SLAUGHTERED. i ALSO CALL ON OTHER REPUTABLE GROUPS/CHARITIES TO PLEASE ASSIST THE PONIES BY JOINING WITH THE COMMON PURPOSE TO SAVE THE PONIES FOR THE PONIES SAKES AND LIVES IN THE BALANCE
