#USA #Alabama Montgomery students remember victims of Korean ferry disaster on MPSs last day of school MONTGOMERY, Alabama - Halcyon Elementary School students, faculty and parents gathered today, the last day of school for Montgomery County schools, to dedicate a newly planted magnolia tree in remembrance of the Korean school children who were lost in the ferry disaster in South Korea on April 16, 2014. Click here for photos of the event. Halcyon has a large Korean student population and even hosts a Korean Saturday School on campus. Many families surrounding the school still grieve for family and friends in their native country. According to MPS officials, students at Halcyon and other Montgomery Public Schools prepared nearly 300 handmade cards and letters written to the students of Danwon High School in Korea.
