USA FORECAST : Mon Jan 19 2015 - 12Z Wed Jan 21 2015 ***Improving weather across the Northeast early this week*** ***Mild temperatures for the central Plains and Deep South*** ***No major precipitation events for Monday and Tuesday*** Across the Northeast, an area of low pressure will track northward from eastern New England to eastern Canada on Monday, taking the heavy rain and wintry weather with it. After this storm system departs, drier and breezy conditions with temperatures returning to average levels will follow for the beginning of the work week for the Northeast. Over the central part of the country, upper level ridging and the lack of any serious arctic intrusions will allow relatively warm conditions to persist through Tuesday across the Great Plains states. Temperatures are expected to be on the order of 10 to 25 degrees above average for this time of year, with highs well into the 50s for the central Plains. Dry weather is expected for most of this region. For the western U.S., a fast moving cold front will move quickly eastward with diminishing mountain snow and lower elevation rain showers from the Pacific Northwest into the northern and central Rockies. A gradual improvement in conditions can be expected through Tuesday with clearing skies and seasonal temperatures.
