USP Alafua Open Day attracts thousands The University of the South Pacific’s Open Day 2014 held on Friday 8 August at the Alafua Campus in Samoa attracted 2000 visitors including guests, students and members of the public on Friday 8 August. Guests included Members of Parliament, Government officials, local business owners, banks, members of the Diplomatic Corps, teachers and high school and college students. Alafua Campus Director Ruby Va’a confirmed that a total number of 1200 secondary school students attended the Open Day. She said it was a huge success with a record number of attendance, booths and displays. Chief Guest at the ceremony was Honourable Faamoetauloa Lealaiauloto Ulaitino Taito Dr Faale Tumaalii, Minister for Natural Resources and Environment, a distinguished scientist and Founding Director of the Science Research Organisation of Samoa (SROS) and academic.
