UTech wants to help educate athletes about banned substances. The University of Technology (UTech) wants to help in educating athletes about banned substances. President of UTech Errol Morrison, believes public education is the way to go in discouraging athletes from deliberately utilising performance-enhancing substances. Morrison says UTech is ready to work with the Jamaica Anti-doping Commission in educating the nation of the harms of the various products and how athletes can better monitor what they ingest. UTech took the first step this week with the staging of public lecture titled Examine Doping and Nutrition in Sports at the Jamaica Conference Centre. The country is under severe pressure after six athletes tested positive this year including former 100-metre world record holder, Asafa Powell, sprint queen Veronica Campbell-Brown and Sherone Simpson.
