Ulema meet Mumbai Congress leader over witch-hunting, reservation June 11, 2013 By Muslim Mirror News, Mumbai, June 11: A delegation of Ulema under the leadership of Maulana Syed Moinuddin Ashraf (Moin Miyan), President, Jamiya Qadriya Ashrafiya on Monday met newly appointed President, Mumbai Regional Congress Committ Mr. Janardan Chandurkar and demanded immediate end to minority witch-hunting, release ofinnocent Muslim youths and reservation for Muslims in education and job. The Congress leader on his visit to the seminary on 10 th June was handed over a memorandum consisting nine demands. The clerics demanded the government to Release Innocent Victims, Punish those guilty of misleading probes and Compensate the victims. “Sadly, it appears as though framing of innocents, witch-hunting of Muslims, and torture/false confessions are the norm rather than the exception interror-investigations in the country. The fake arrest of innocent Muslim Youth must be stopped immediately,” reads the memorandum. The Muslim delegation also demanded inclusion of Dalit Muslims in reservation category and 10% quota to general Muslims as per recommendations of Ranganath Mishra Commission Report. “At Central Level, you should convey our message to withdraw Presidential Order, 1950 on Article341 of India Constitution immediately and also separate 10% Reservation must be given to Muslims as per the recommendations of Ranganath Mishra Commission Report,” they urged the Congress leader. Other demands included Representation of Muslims in Government, Implementation of Nasha Bandi Act in state, Ban on Right Wing Hindutva organizations, establishment of Madarsa Education Board and reservation for Muslims in government housing schemes in the state. Besides Maulana Moinuddin Ashraf Asharafi (Moin Miyan), the delegation had MLA Amin Patel, ExMLA Yusuf Abrhani, MAulana Khalilur Raheman Noori, MunicipalCorporater Javed Juneja.
