Ultimately, UP ETC upholds the fact that efforts should be geared towards the formation and solidification of UP’s international character. One way of achieving this is by having international students and professors in the university. UP ETC is firm in its stand that the academic calendar may be one aspect but it should NEVER be packaged as the ONLY SOLUTION and must likewise not be treated as such. Nor do we believe that it is or should be the only proposal to raise UP’s overall competitiveness. Hence, UP ETC recognizes the merits of the academic calendar shift but asserts that it must NOT BE IMPLEMENTED IN AY 2014 − 2015. The existing and arising problems and inconsistencies should first be addressed and settled before we adopt the shift.
