Undeclared restrictions trigger chaos in Srinagar(yesterday) The forces had laid spools of barbed wires at Amira Kadal, TRC Crossing, Dalgate, Karan Nagar, Jehangir Chowk, Budshah Chowk, Maisuma, Abi Guzar and Footbridge. However, Muharram mourners defied restrictions and took out processions in several localities. The forces resorted to lathi-charge and burst scores of tear smoke shells to disperse them. Witnesses said a large group of mourners assembled at Batamaloo. The mourners, dressed in black, marched towards Budshah Chowk, however they were intercepted by the forces. The forces burst tear smoke shells and resorted to baton charge to disperse the mourners. Scores of mourners were detained by the police. The forces also intercepted a procession of mourners near Shaheed Gunj that started from Kak Sarai area of city. The mourners clashed with police and paramilitary forces resulting in injuries to several persons. A policeman was also injured during the clashes. At some other places that included Chinkral Mohalla in Habba Kadal area, Suthra Shahi, Magarmal Bagh and Tankipora, police and CRPF dispersed the Muharram processions. Police and CRPF burst tear smoke shells and baton charged the mourners leaving around 20 persons injured. A Muharram procession was also taken out at Dalgate which later ended peacefully.
