Under 14 blue def Mareeba 56/6 Our trip up the range resulted in a convincing victory against Mareeba 56/6 when the mercy rule came in 10 minutes into the second half. It was great to see Mareeba wanting to continue play after the mercy rule came into effect, so everyone could play a full game of football. Our start was not what we wanted to see with Mareeba scoring the first try from a mistake, but it was all smooth sailing from there on in completing the first half 32/6 in front. A very pleasing thing to see was our goal line defence late in the first half after they had repeat sets on our own goal line, and the boys showed that no matter what the score, they did not want to let them in. Chance was fearless in defence and attack making 12 tackles and carrying the ball 14 times. Jack is like a good bottle of red wine and keeps on getting better and better making 15 tackles for the day. Our support play was outstanding with numerous tries coming from offloads. Will and Adam are undoubtedly the best halves combination in our age group and their work sets the platform for the rest of the players. Eli was good taking the ball to the line 8 times with aggression. Tyler’s move out to the centers resulted in him scoring a hat trick of try’s today whilst other scorers where Koiki with two, and one each to Quinton, Rodney, Jai, Guy, and Josh who also made great metres and made several offloads that resulted in tries. We have a bye next weekend but I expect everyone to still be at training so we can continue to fine-tune our game. Cheers Jim
