Under our leadership, we have brought in new management that has implemented changes we have needed for far too long. Among those changes are: -Created new professional relationships with neighboring cities. Something that is crucial when operating in an automatic aid system. -Developed multiple emergency response plans, including reaching victims and patients during situations where road travel is impeded by flood waters. -Prompted ambulance billing audit to establish a plan to increase efficiency, reduction in transport delays, and reduce redundant practices unrecognized previously. -Changes in state law mandates that homes that were taxed using assessed values are now taxed using the cash value of the home. This created a funding gap for fire districts across the state. In order to continue to meet our communities expectations of services it became necessary to initiate a 15 cent per hundred dollar of your homes value. This new assessment strategy will increase the fire district levy on average $60 per household for this year only. It is expected that next year that figure will decrease and district members will realize TAX SAVINGS over time. It is unfortunate that previous fire district administrators had not positioned the district to avoid this additional tax burden. The current administration has implemented transparent and effective cost containment strategies that insure that the community gets what they pay for. We appreciate your support!
