Under s.2(1) of the National Bureau of Standard Act, Cap 327- there is established the Uganda National Bureau of Standards. S.3 of that Act provides for the functions of the bureau which inter alia include: to formulate national standard specifications for commodities & codes of practice as may from time to time be required and to promote standardization in commerce, industry, health, safety, & social welfare. Be that as it may, sub section (2) thereof ordains in part that the in the performance of its functions, the bureau shall consult & cooperate with any body, organisation or association in Uganda or outside Uganda relating to industrial or commercial standards generally with a view to furthering the functions of the bureau..
