(Understanding God’s Gift) It is in the death of Christ - TopicsExpress

(Understanding God’s Gift) It is in the death of Christ that we really see God’s love for the world, or what is known to Christians as “grace.” The Bible tells us that God gives us the gift of grace for free, and it is His grace that allows us to find salvation. Ephesians 2:8-9 states, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” (NIV) Become a Christian So, you get all this, right? But what does it take to actually achieve salvation? Well, the process is simple: Step 1: Believe that God loves you and desires to have a relationship with you. Step 2: Admit that you are a sinner and put your sin in your past. Step 3: Believe that Jesus died on a cross for your sins and to give you eternal life. Step 4: Accept Jesus into your heart. Step 5: Pray. If you do not know what to say at first, you can use this simple Salvation Prayer . Step 6: Tell someone. Romans 10:9-10 states, “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with our heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” (NIV) ( Salvation Prayer ) Saying the actual words of the salvation prayer may be a little difficult when you make your decision to be a Christian. Youre probably full of emotion and a little scared. Thats okay. Here is a sample prayer you can use to guide you through the prayer: God, I know that, in my lifetime, I have not always lived for you, and I have sinned in ways I probably dont even know yet are sins. I know that you have plans for me, and I want to live in those plans. I pray to you for forgiveness for the ways in which I have sinned. I am choosing now to accept Jesus into my heart. I am eternally grateful for his sacrifice on the cross and how He died so I can have eternal life. I pray that I be filled with the Holy Spirit and that I continue to live as You desire for me to live. I will strive to overcome temptations and no longer let sin control me. I put myself in your hands. I pray that you work in my life and guide my steps so that I continue to live for you. In your name I pray. Amen. ( in this day and hour we never know what will happen next, ( Mark 13:32-33..But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. 33Take heed, keep on the alert; for you do not know when the appointed time will come.:)…(for we no not when that time will come.
