Unless one is proven guilty, she / he is innocent - this the basic - TopicsExpress

Unless one is proven guilty, she / he is innocent - this the basic idea about justice and it has been shaken at its very root today by the Ghaziabad court verdict in the Arushi - Hemraj dual murder case. The prime investigating agency of the country has repeatedly acknowledged that there is no forensic or material evidence against the Talwar couple, even seeking court permission to end the case in December 2010. Still the Ghaziabad court has announced the Talwar couple as the murderers of their own daughter and their domestic help. Can a judge announce a verdict based on assumptions? The verdict of the Ghaziabad court is terribly shocking because logic, scientific argument et cetera seem to have been completely lost or ignored while announcing it. It is a day of great shame in the history of justice.
