Unless youve grown up in northeast Ohio you wont truly understand - TopicsExpress

Unless youve grown up in northeast Ohio you wont truly understand that article. How much those words mean to these people and this city. Ive grown up and those of you that know me no matter where I have gone Ive lived and died Indians, Browns and Cavs. My dad had two tryouts for the Cavs in the mid 70s. Ive been to more games than I can ever recall. But if your dad and grandpa didnt whisper you the glory of Otto Graham, Jim Brown or Bob Feller. Or the start of the curse with Rocky Callivito, the trade of Norm Cash and Roger Maris. Or you didnt have to live with the drive, the fumble, the shot, the decision, the hit and Jose Mesa , the move and Art Modell, the exodus of Indians greats, the new Browns year after year, freak injuries, bad draft picks, josh Gordon, busted roads, snow, ice , gloom, bad mayors, corrupt politicians, jokes and media laughs, the rock hall ceremony in New York, and on and on and on. You dont really get it. You havent seen this city lose its residents and crumble to its knees. You didnt have to live with the understanding that it just wasnt gonna happen. Losing and underdogging was all part of only in Cleveland. Lebron leaving was all just part of what happens to the best of us from Cleveland. We get out.....but one thing the world forgot, maybe even we forgot.....even the best of us always come back. Unless youre from here you dont understand, we ALWAYS come back. One way or another. We bleed orange and brown, we believe in the next year for the Tribe, and we drink the Wine and Gold. We thought, for a moment that Lebron was different. That he really wasnt one of us. That he didnt have that same fire for this place inside him. Thats why we were so angry, so distraught, because we believed in him as a collective of us. Hes brought us hope again, not hope for a championship as much as a hope and an understanding that this cross we bear, this torch we carry really does burn inside of us, ALL of us, no matter how big or how famous. That we can really justify and understand all the crazy things we do and the loyalty we have for northeast ohio. That something can finally go right for us. That we are all in this together, and that ANYONE can come home. When Lebron left more than anything it was the way he left that left us so scorned, and now as the King returns its not the championship he might bring or the feeling of being chosen or even coming back to play, but The Letter that he wrote and the way hes come home. To face this curse, this destiny that we all share, head on. Props.
