Until i was older, i dont ever remember having a turkey for christmas..wed have a chicken, a piece of ham or maybe a bit of roast pork, me ma always made her christmas cake months in advance, and shed make a christmas pudding and on christmas eve some mincemeat pies...but what i remember mostly about the food was, there would always be a BOX of tato Chips, and a BOX of fancy biscuits....(none of those broken biscuits for the christmas visitors lol) a couple of different chocolate bars, and lord of lord, oranges and walnuts....shed pull out a bottle or two of lemonade shed obviously have hidden away somewhere....wed think wed died and went to heaven with all these treats...we never had them otherwise and my christmas memories are so much wrapped around food...looking forward to it...smelling it.....eating it.....but im just looking thro the food stash here right now and im thinking....my poor unfortunate grandkids......really nothing is a special treat to them in the food or sweet dept..they get treats all thro the year and daily lol...so i asked them......whats a special tradition to you about christmas food ....and they all go.......making a ginger bread house (which they dont eat incidentally) but manage to create a huge mess while doing, and the food we have on christmas eve...im racking my brains about christmas eve cos we always have something different...and sometimes odd on christmas eve, but yes sez the kids, everyone cooks something or makes something so its not like boring regular old dinner lol....my kids all bring something, we use paper plates and generally all just kick back and stuff ourselves lol..but its an easy night, and generally no cleanup..i guess really the kids like TRADITIONS lol...so theres hope for them x0x0x
