Up for sale: Sporterized Springfield Model 1903 in 30-06 made by Springfield. Number: 826,XXX made in 1918. At number 800,000 Springfield started to double heat treat their rifle barrels. These are considered safe to fire. Was drilled and tapped for a scope, and the whoever sported the gun did a poor job of machining the rear iron sights off. Includes a Simmons 3-9X40 scope which has some marks on it but no dents. Has a Bishop stock with extended cheek pad and is cracked at the end of the receiver, has a crack near the butt plate, and has use marks. Barrel has excellent rifling, no pitting on the inside, and is very shiny on the inside. Barrel on the outside has a little wear and a few spots which can only be seen up close. Bluing looks good for its age. Bolt is in good shape and works very smoothly and has a Buehler Sporting safety. Bolt assembly has some patina to it, but it is not from rust. I think it fires at about a 3 pound pull. Rifle fires excellent, I have had no jams, misfires, etc. No problems whatsoever firing this rifle. Bolt and action works and cycles very smoothly. I have no problem hitting a 3 inch target at 100 yards with Russian ammo. Will throw in a box and a half (30 rounds) of AMF 168gr. 30-06 Russian ammo. I have cleaned this rifle every time I finish shooting it with Hoppes 9.
