Update On My Dear O Dad: As perfect timing permitted,Garrison & I were given the opportunity to take my dad home as he was discharged yesterday. My stepmother was resting at home with a respiratory ailment. My dad was so thrilled that Heidi remembered him. She & my dad love each other very much. That was evident. It was an exhausting, but fulfilling day. My dad recalled,as I was driving from the pharmacy, the times he let me drive {teen} during our trips thru the lovely state of Tennessee. Memories are precious. Even more so,when your elderly parent who is in their 90s, remembers those bonding moments that you recall. Dad talked more than usual. As he is a man of few words. He said many loving, reassuring words to me yesterday. And,I was grateful to be there to assist. It was remarkable witnessing my son, Garrison, support his grampy as I helped him get dressed, lift grampy into our SUV & carry his grampys belongings to safety ~ without my prompting. In the spirit of giving. This is a huge gift. As many of my real life loved ones know how Garris challenges go. My dad rested on my arm,as he use to hold my moms arm as they would skate ~ in days gone by. We visited. Then, settled dad into his bed. As he sat at the edge of his bed,he kissed my cheek. I hugged him & kiss his forehead. He looked up to me with gleaming eyes, and said, of all the others.you were the one I was the closest to. I love you so much,Deb Priceless
