Update On mom as of 9 tonight: I talked to her evening nurse and she said they drained just over a liter and a half of fluid from around her lungs. She still is on the b-pap machine as it is still difficult for her to breathe completely on her own. We are still waiting on the results of the culture done on the fluid drained from her abdomen on Wednesday. She is still being fed by a tube, but she is able to chew and swallow ice chips. The nurse says she is still really hoarse, but must have made it clear that she wants to go home, because the nurse said mom is ready to go home. They will keep her at least until mom can fully breathe on her own. (Still no guesses on when that will be) Mom is now on (almost) constant diuretics to make her pee a lot, to help with some of the fluid. We will call again in the morning and update you all accordingly.
