***Update: Praise In The Park Gig Title: The Fantastic Horrible Gig! Hello everyone, If you are familiar with my Facebook page, you know that Im always trying to give upcoming musicians an inside look at professional gigs and studio sessions. Some aspiring musicians may not have made it to the point of playing in front of thousands of people on huge stages across the world, so I try to bring them content from my personal experience, and let them see what they have to look forward to. A lot of times I show the good side, and never really highlight the times when gig disasters happen, but not tonight! I think aspiring musicians need to know that every gig wont be gravy. Sometimes they go well, and sometimes they go down in flames, but you gotta learn how to make the best of whatever happens. With that said, I must say today at the praise in the park, everything DID NOT go as planned lol. Heres a little bit of what happened... -while they were giving away prizes on stage for 20mins, NOBODY notified us that we were supposed to be setting up for our performance. I just happened to walk up to the stage and ask ummm...are we next? By this time we had 5 mins to set up...:-( -when we finally got on stage, the guy kept announcing us as if we were ready. I kept telling him we werent lol. The sound guy couldnt find the music in the stems smh. That took 15 mins! Then a lady came up and said we they were cutting our time! -when I finally sat down to play, the top keyboard wasnt even plugged in, and the sustain pedal on the bottom wasnt working at all. The stage guy changed out 5 sustain pedals WHILE I was playing and none of them worked!! Lol smh - when it finally came time to do my song Straight Jacket, when the track started, I heard nothing but Devon on drums behind me. THEN, while I was playing, my instrument cable mysteriously came out of the Di!.....Twice!! Im up there playing mute keybass, not the tone mute, but it was actually muted cause you couldnt hear nothin!! -Right smack dab in the middle of Straight Jacket, I was informed that we had to cut it short! Tell me...how do you cut Straight Jacket short Lololol??? Better yet, how do you figure out how to cut Straight Jacket short, WHILE YOUR PLAYING STRAIGHT JACKET!!! (Lol) Anyway, I call this the Fantastic Horrible gig, because although some horrific things took place, I had a good time being around my brothers, and I truly thank God for Isaac Carree allowing me to do an original tune during his set. He DID NOT have to do that. That really meant a lot. Its also fantastic, because the events that took place today, sparked a new idea that I will be sharing with you all soon! The point of all this is, musicians, every gig wont always be great...get over it. Its apart of growing. Celebrate the good, learn from the bad, and make it a point to do better next time. You cant appreciate the good times if you never have the bad. You see all these musicians posting pics in front of 15,000-20,000 people while sitting on stage, and you think they just magically appeared there. Wrong! It took a lot of hard work, dedication, tons of gigs going down in flames, countless gig not getting paid when they were supposed to, delayed flights, lost luggage, and canceled gigs that they already spent future money they thought they were gonna make, to get where they are. You see the glory, but you rarely hear the story. Well.....here is part of mine... *if there are any typos....just correct them lol
