Update Thank you all so very much for the thoughts and prayers. Griffin is home and settling in for the night in his own bed. He has to lay on his stomach as much as possible to help stretch out his hips, so hopefully it goes well. He is normally a side sleeper. For those of you wondering what is next. Griffin needs to keep the splint/soft cast on his elbow at all times until we go back to the doctor. The goal is to have his left elbow bend further to aid in self feeding as his left hand works better than his right hand. He needs to wear the KAFOs (braces) on both legs along with the special pillow between his knees almost all the time, except for bathing and therapy. This goal is for his hips to be less flexed and abducted (bent and out to the side), to allow for standing and walking. For those who dont know this, when Griffin was first born and while he was in the womb, his hips were so contracted that his legs were flat on his chest. We will return to Philly in 2 weeks to see both doctors and stay for 3 days for OT and PT. OT will make him a new removable splint for his elbow and PT will trial different standers, assistive devices, etc to determine what will work best for him to stand and eventually walk. :) Counting our blessings.
